A new website?! Yes! And a confession...
For about EIGHT YEARS, I've been working on a book.
Only a select few people have known about this...even some of my nearest and dearest have only recently learned of this little (big?) secret. Why?
Those who know me would not likely describe me as shy...or lacking in self-confidence... In fact, the opposite is all-too-often true. But writing a book is a big thing. A scary thing. A thing that made me afraid...of...? I'm not sure what. If it doesn't work out? If it doesn't get published? What if I tell everyone I'm writing a book, and then nothing comes of it?
Ironically, not telling anyone has a funny way of making nothing come of it.
And so now, I'm telling you.
And I'm excited!
Because with telling others comes accountability, ideas, and collaboration.
How Twin Sanity came to be...
About eight years ago, our girls' pediatrician asked if he could refer another mom to me who was expecting twins. She had asked if he could recommend any books for her to read, and while he didn't know of any books (That's right! He didn't know of any books to recommend to her), he did know of a person who would be a good resource for her.
We had experienced the same problem a year earlier when we found out we were expecting twins--hundreds of thousands of titles out there for expectant parents, but very little out there for expectant parents of twins.
How do you get two to sleep at the same time?
How do you feed two at the same time?
Do we need two cribs or one?
Do we need two of everything?
Will I go into labor early?
Will I need help?
And so I decided to start writing. I took copious notes of our babies' sleep schedules, how we transitioned them from feeding tubes to bottles to breastfeeding, how getting through the day changed as their developmental needs changed that first year...and I quickly realized that the reason that so few books exist on this topic is that no parent of twins has time to write such a thing.

Now our girls are finishing second grade, life keeps happening, and I have a manuscript that I need to publish. Thankfully, there are many more books on the market now than there were eight or nine years ago, but I've gotten enough positive feedback from the few people I've dared to share my book with (including new moms of twins and another pediatrician), that I'm hopeful that this labor of love will be a help to others--a resource for staying sane, even when expecting and caring for twins.
This new blog will be much the same as the old one, full of stories of real mommyhood, tried-and-true recipes, and whatever else comes to mind. I'll work on transferring the old favorite posts to this new location. (How I love moving!) And this is the home of my new book, which I am sharing with you. Thank you for joining me on the journey!
